Rosemaling Bowls for Sale
Since Turid Fatland from Norway contacted me several years ago, I have been supplying bowls for rosemaling painters. You can look at the post called “Bowls for Rosemalers” to read more about these bowls and to see examples from Karen Jenson and Ken Magnuson.
This page is a catalog of shapes, sizes and prices.
I offer four basic shapes, and those in various sizes. Most of my bowls have bark, but some do not. Some rosemalers like very distressed bowls, with cracks, holes, and distorted shapes. If you inquire about those bowls, I can let you know what I have and what premium price I charge for those distressed.
This first shape below is my most popular Rounded bowl shape. I have learned not to make it too deep or it is difficult to paint inside. I charge $5 extra for bowls with extra figure, and usually $5 less for no bark.

This is my most basic shape of bowl for rosemaling, not too deep so it's not difficult to paint inside the bowl.
Prices are listed by outside diameter.
X small 13-17 cm – $40
Small 17-20 cm (10-12 cm high)- $45 Small medium 20-22 cm- $50
Medium 22-23 cm (13-16 high)- $55
Large medium 23-25 cm- $60
Large 25-28 cm- $70

This is my second most popular style, a Flared Lip bowl style. this one is shown without bark but usually they have bark. It is like the rounded shape except for the way the edge gets an outside flare near the top.
Small 20-23 cm (12-14 high)- $45
Medium 23-26 cm (12-15 high)- $55
Large 26-31 cm (13-16 high)- $70
X-large 32-36 cm (13-17 high)- $85
The Flared bowl style is another style , less common but quite interesting. These bowls are not always available.(Picture will be added)
Small 18-22 cm (11-14 high) $50
Medium 23-27 cm (12-15 high) $65
Large 28-32 (13-16 high) $80
Bark Edged Platters are a new venture this year, but they have been popular. I generally choose highly figured wood and have bark edges on two sides of the tray. Cost, $65 and up, depending on diameter and figure.

I am wondering if you ship and if I could order two bowls. I’ve never rosemaled in a bowl, so am open to suggestions. I was thinking two, but different looking, small size, and whatever you think would be a good first experience to work with. E-mail’s a great way to reach me or 507-261-7353. I’m in Rochester, MN.
Thanks, Heidi
Heidi, thanks for your message and sorry to be slow to respond. I’d love to send you two different styles of small bowls. The cost would be $40 and $50 for the 6 and 7 inch bowls and it would cost $10 for carefully shipping them. They are both fairly open and not too deep, which is easier for a starter bowl. If that is acceptable, please send me your address and I will get them in the mail soon.

Heidi, haven’t heard back for awhile. Do you want me to ship you something, like the two bowls I mentioned. I don’t have your address.
